Dear Fred. That is much better. Kind regards, Cam.

Wow. That’s a pretty major transformation. Love the pic w/ your daughter kinda going “Dad?! Did you know there was a floor in here?” Good luck on the standing desk. I’ve got the same IKEA tabletop and it’s tempting me to buy the longer legs too.

  • Ollie Gross

Respect! And I notice ‘Expedit’, the universal gamers choice IKEA shelf.

Your transparency in all things has reached a new level, Fred. ;)

My wife said something similar. :)

    • Christie

Yeah, this is the reason there had to be a way to visually close off his office, and why my office is the one with the dual purpose of guest bedroom, and not Fred’s. Here’s to keeping it organized!

    Score!

  • http://www.wired.com/geekdad Michael Harrison

    Holy. Shit.

    Well done, sir. Well. Done.

I particularly like the addition of the curly-haired little girl. :)

  • http://storiedadventures.blogspot.com Jim

    That’s impressive.

One question. What’s that thing on the chair with the hose going out the window?

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

      Radiation filter^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HAir conditioner.

Were you surprised to find the small child under all of the stuff?

    • http://www.silverbranch.co.uk Tim Gray

      Drat, witty remark scooped. ;)

The before made me feel better about my own office. Then again, it’s bedroom size rather than garage size. Have also just been clearing up.

Makes a big difference to how you feel about working, doesn’t it?

  • Jennifer

I spotted the (evil) nose sucker!

  • Lisa Padol

    Wow.

Working on this sort of thing. We swapped bedroom and study, which helped. Not sure whether the building fire that blessedly missed us and most of our stuff is a help in the house cleaning. We still need the kitchen cleaned (I set that up for after GenCon), but I have now gone through all my shoes and pants, making a Goodwill pile of stuff that just doesn’t fit. Not sure if the shoes have a second life in them, but the pants do.

We have a more powerful shredder, which helps with the paper problem. So will scanning in stuff I want to keep, but can keep as electrons, like character sheets from conventions. But, I’m not sure we’re gonna get ours to look quite as good as yours. We are cluttercats.

How, how did you get work done there? Before I mean. And not just because of the clutter, that looked like an awful lot of fiction books in that room just sitting at the edge of your vision, begging to be read. Also, what was that Batman Beyond thing on the floor?

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

That’d be Batman Beyond: The Complete Series

  • http://www.stargazersworld.com Stargazer

I have to admit your “before” pictures look a lot like my office. I really think I should get some cleaning done, too. At least I cleaned up my guest bedroom and kitchen during the last weeks. :)

  • BaboonBill

The best part was the random sandal sitting atop all the papers and assorted detritus in the first picture.

However, I must agree that finding a curly-haired child in all that is quite an accomplishment!

  • Buzz

Having that sunny window behind your monitor is going to kill your eyes, FYI.

Otherwise, good job cleaning things up!
