What would it take to convince you to go after the Percy Jackson IP next?

Thanks! I’ll put this in the next one.

In several of my hobbies, especially model railroading, one of the memes is “The best way to kill your interest in your hobby is to make it a business.” Where would you place yourself on the agree-disagree line, and why?

Nice one. I’ve gotten enough material for the first follow-up, but this is definitely making the queue.

I was recently listening to some folks lamenting that RPG industry could do more to market RPG to non-gamers. Dresden is probably one of the best opportunities for a widely popular IP to expand the ranks of table-top role players since Frodo took a ring to Mt. Doom. Can you talk about any efforts that have been made by Evil Hat, Penguin Books, or others, to get fans of The Dresden Files novels to take a look a the DFPRG? Thanks.

      I’ll queue this up.

Some FATE games have PC skills form a perfect pyramid (i.e., one skill at the apex, two at the nest level down, etc.), some don’t. Is there any advantage to one way or the other? Mostly, I love the pyramid (focus!), and wonder why a designer would choose not to use it.

      Tossin’ it in the queue.

How many licks *does* it take to get to the center of a Tootsie roll pop?

I’m sticking with the owl on that one.

Anything goes^^.. well ok :D : There have been some rumors, that a German RPG publisher has bought the rights to translate the DFRPG and since (imho) the German market is very dominated by hm.. nineties design, that would really be a small revolution and would fill my heart with joy^^. So anything you can say about that :) .

Horatio, don’t know where you heard that rumor, but it hasn’t happened, to my knowledge (and it would need to happen to my knowledge in order to happen). There’ve been a few foreign language inquiries here and there, but the rights would have to be secured both from Jim Butcher via his agent as well as from Evil Hat, and those things haven’t happened.

Any chance we will be seeing a preview of the card game in the near future?
Also – Thanks for the work on Dresden RPG, my table loves it and we are talking about doing more fate based games cause of it.

Yes, for certain values of “near”. Thanks for asking; I’ll bank it for futurethink.

    Dear Deadly,

Any tips for a first-time GM? I’m going to be running a DFRPG campaign, having never run a tabletop rpg before. (Will be starting with the Neutral Grounds pack as a primer.)

    :)
