Gammarylanders II: Scheduling

Okay, this is where I list a set of candidate dates for running the next Gammaryland game. I’m focusing strictly on my own availability, here, and looking at Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays as the viable ones (though I know that Tuesdays are going to be bad enough for enough of the core folks that that one may have to drop off the list of targetable days).

Problem is, for the next several weeks, Thursdays stink for me, hard. This week, I’m watching Evie while Christie’s out; next week is Thanksgiving; week after that is Christie’s birthday; week after that is a nursery school thing. So that’s a straight month of unavailability for me to run/play Gamma World, and I am singularly uninterested in waiting that long.  My Saturdays are also pretty crowded

  • Tuesday, November 23rd
  • Saturday, November 27th* (This is a maybe; it’s part of  Thanksgiving weekend, but we aren’t angling to be out of town for Turkey: The Turkening, so I might be able to make this happen if enough folks could do it.)
  • Tuesday, November 30th
  • Tuesday, December 7th
  • Saturday, December 11th
  • Tuesday, December 14th
  • Thursday, December 16th

So as you can see, Tuesday tends to be a more regularly possible thing for me running through the next month (4 of the 7 dates).

If you’re part of the six players who made it last time, speak up as to which three of the above dates are most possible. I’ll use this to figure out which dates I want to officially offer, and like last time I’ll fill in any empty seats with other available locals.

Interestingly I may be able to free up some Thursdays if those end up being days of opportunity. That adds two more maybes to the list:

  • THIS THURSDAY (the 18th of November) — I’d need to hear from folks able to make this ASAP if it’s a winner
  • Thursday, December 9th (we may be able to reschedule the nursery school thing)

    11/27, 12/11, and 12/16 are possible for both E and I. On those Saturdays, an evening game is probably better in case I end up running D&D during the day. E has her game on every Tuesday, so unless we have a random cancellation, we can’t commit to any of those.

    I could do this Thursday, but Dave can’t (he’s running Encounters at Dream Wizards).

    I can do this Thurs., 11/16 if there is a general consensus around that date (I should be prepping for my Dark Sun game the next night, but I think I’ll be done with that tomorrow).

    I can pretty much do any other date on the list with the possible exceptions of Tues, Dec. 7th (guests in town, although they fly out that afternoon), and Saturday, Nov. 27th (UNLESS the Saturday is a night game).

    In general, Saturdays are tough, because I often have beer gigs that keep me busy until 500pm’ish. Now I don’t always have those AND can head out your way after a gig, but then I run the risk of alienating my incredibly wonderful and patient wife, who would otherwise not see much of me during those Saturdays in question. Also, theoretically, our DFRPG group (including E. and Dave) will be gaming on alternating Saturday nights, as soon as I can hammer down a schedule that works for everyone.

    In general, for weeknights in the future, Tuesday is best for me. (sorry, Dave and E.), but I’ll bend time and space as needed to make other nights work as well. Chad and I were lucky this last Tuesday because of light traffic due to Veterans Day.

    The only time that absolutely won’t work is Saturday during the day. Saturday nights, on the other hand, starting anytime after 6:00, might be the best time. I will also be around on the 27th.

    Tuesday and Thursday nights are difficult, but I can do them occasionally. Tuesday nights, I run a Traveller game. However, that takes a fair amount of prep and I like to take a break sometimes anyway.

    Saturdays are generally best for me, but I can make Thursdays work, I think.

    However, I’ll need to judge things on the ground from a week-to-week basis.
