This post is focused on folks living within driving distance of my house.

I want to get us started on running the occasional linked set of Gamma World adventures. I want to play, but in order to get this started NOW, I am going to run the kick-off storyline. My thought is that we can do a GM hotseat thing, swapping up who has the wheel between adventures.

Initial play will occur in the swampy wilds stretching between the Baldy Moor and Ashington Deece. Our backyard.

Real world location is my house in Hillandale, MD (Silver Spring ish).

First session will be Thursday November 11 between 7pm and 11pm. I know this pushes things a little late for Rob, and might start a little early for some other folks…which should illustrate to you right there why I picked those times. If you can make it earlier than 7pm, that would be great, since we can get character creation & kibbutz done earlier.

If there is dinner need, we can call Papa John’s. Eating choices around my house stink.

If you have a Gamma World book, bring it. Multiple copies will be a help.

I’m making this a general offer for local-ish folks who read my blog. Comment here on deadlyfredly.com if you’re interested. For open slots — I’ll take up to six players — it’ll be first come. That said, I’m giving first option on a reserved subset of those to the following folks many of whom have already indicated some interest: Rob, Chad, Dave C, E Foley, Tom C. Guys, let me know if you can/want to make it so I can fill up the other slots.

It’ll be like this each session ideally, with a rotating cast, part pickup game, part ongoing story. It’ll be a trick, but I think we, and Gamma World, can do it.

I am very, very tempted by this.

(Note that — at least for Tom and I, whether we carpool or come separately — getting to your place before 7 pm might actually be logistically impossible on a weeknight.)

You’ll have to try hard then, as starting later isn’t an option for some of us. :)

  • http://geeksdreamgirl.com E. Foley

Yes. A million times yes. (We may not be able to do every Thursday, tho.)

      See the comment below.

E and I will be there. Thursdays are just about the worst day for me, but I can make it happen occasionally. Like this one. :)

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

We will talk about this when it happens. It’s a split decision between Tuesday and Thursday, tho, so long term I expect some alternation. I can’t make Mondays nor Wednesdays work in general, and the weekend Friday thru Sunday is always hit or miss, especially if I want to include Rob.

  • Tom Cadorette

Chad and I will figure it out. I’m reasonably sure I can make it, and will work to carpool with him if I can. How close to a Metro are you?

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

I don’t think of our place as close to a Metro, in the sense that it’s not walkable. When we need to hop on, we either drive to the Greenbelt stop (green line) or Forest Glen stop (red line); they’re equidistant from us, and both usually involve running around the beltway.

    • http://www.critical-hits.com Dave T. Game

I’m willing to make a Metro pickup if need be. I work near the Shady Grove stop if that helps any, or I could get to any of the ones near Fred.

    • Tom Cadorette

OK. I *thought* Chad might be a Metro guy — if so, and he can get there (and one of us incoming folks picks him up at Metro), I can happily get him home.

Hmm. That Thursday is a holiday. Which almost makes it do-able. I’d never be able to do it on a regular basis, though. Getting home at midnight makes getting up at 4 very, very difficult… :( I’d love to do it, but I think logistics will get in the way.

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

      It’s a holiday?

    • http://immagini-di-vita.com Lugh

Nov 11 is Veteran’s Day. Those of us working for the gummint get to sleep in, thanks to the sacrifice of our brave soldiers.

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

Shows what I know. Well, that’ll at least allow folks who qualify for the day off to show up a little early. ;)

I’m not reading you as a Certain Interest yet, tho, since that 4am thing is ridiculously rough.

    • http://immagini-di-vita.com Lugh

Yeah, much as I’d love to, I’m going to have to pass. I can’t stay out that late on a school night.

Would this be open to displaced Marylanders? I’m attending law school in Philly, but there is a very large chance I’ll be back in MD over the summer…

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

“People within driving distance of my house” is the qualifier (well, that, and being able to make the times set for the slot). You can chime in if we’ve got an open seat during the summer. :)

I’m about as local as you can get (Wheaton) and would love to get in on this. Dave T. Game can vouch for my sanity (or lack thereof) if that helps.

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

David, even assuming all of the 5 reservists are able to make it, you’re our sixth, so you’re definitely in as the first to speak with clear interest and availability. :)

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

David, send me your email address (evilhat AT gmail d o t com) so I can give folks address particulars offline. :)

  • Chad Underkoffler

@Tom Hm. Metro opens up possibilities (I work at Metro Center), but you’d essentially have to drop me off downtown rather in Alexandria so I could pick my car up.

My big concern is Beltway traffic, in any regard.

    • Tom Cadorette

Yeah. For me, in the afternoon, it’s a reverse commute. When I was doing a game up at Adam’s place in Bawlmer, it mostly was OK until I hit the Greenbelt area… which is likely where I’d be getting off, so that’s a wash.

We can take this offline and talk about it — dropping you off downtown is *less* preferable but not entirely out of the question.

Is it full? Can I get on a waiting list if so?

    • http://www.deadlyfredly.com/ Fred Hicks

Slot one on the waiting list.

  • Chad Underkoffler

@Fred: Just sent an email to Tom offline re: scheduling/route. This may very well be doable.

  • http://gamesr4grownups.blogspot.com/ Trevor Smith

    Dear Fred

Do you plan on moving to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex anytime soon?

    No? Oh. Ok.

    :-(
