Hey there!

Well, according to Gareth in the thread, people with pre-orders will be receiving the book when it gets shipped to distributors. 'Mid-May' or so, was the wording.

I think that's almost a month lead time for the print version, but I could be mistaken. (And often am)

Yeah, fair cop. It worked really well for us with Spirit of the Century, and it's working pretty well for us with Dresden Files, at least in the limited release we're giving out to the playtesters. That said, sometimes the timelines just don't support that aspect of advantage from the approach -- it might not be in a releasable form at a time when the proofings could still be factored in, or the printing timeframe might demand that the interior PDF get shipped off to the printer before any feedback could get processed.

All the same, Evil Hat has run plenty of preorders where the PDF is available immediately at the time the preorder's paid for, and it's always seemed to give us a boost in terms of positive advance buzz. The people who preorder are very frequently the people who are going to be positive and excited about the game. That lays down a good foundation of word of mouth.

I like the pre-order except for one thing - only getting the pdf a few days before the print copy. Can you please tell Gareth about the advantages of putting a pre-print pdf in the hands of the fans, so you can collect errata and fix up the copy before print?

Thanks!
